Music Lesson Mission / Philosophy
Our Mission: Quality Music Lessons
CFMTA and BCRMTA were established in 1935 as professional organizations to assure quality music lessons (eg. piano lessons, guitar lessons, voice lessons) and qualified music teachers. CFMTA provides “programs of interest to all Canadians, such as Canada Music Week, The Young Artist Tours which take place in every region of Canada, and the National Piano Competition which is held at our Biennial conventions. We promote musical excellence through the many workshops, masterclasses and musical events held by our member provinces/territories and our branches throughout Canada. We collaborate with music organizations to further progressive music education in Canada and communicate through our publication “The Canadian Music Teacher” and our website: https:www.cfmta.org/en/history
The BCRMTA Kelowna Branch was established in the 1970s. The Kelowna Branch is one of 24 BC branches of independent music teachers recognized at the national level of the CFMTA. Our branch, a non-profit organization, is committed to professional excellence. All our members are highly qualified and experienced music teachers who have reached a very high standard in the instrument they teach. In addition, each member has successfully met the rigorous application criteria of the BCRMTA and CFMTA. Our branch offers scholarship opportunities through awards, bursaries and advancement to local, regional, provincial and national recognition. At our June 5th, 2023 AGM, members in attendance unanimously agreed to provide 2 annual community concerts for the next three years.
Our association provides a forum for teachers to connect, communicate and collaborate. Members have chosen music education as a career and are dedicated to the educational, cultural and artistic development of our students. Our branch brings together music teachers who generate educational events while encouraging professionalism, personal growth and lifelong skill-building for our students. Our devoted music teachers instill a love of music and develop the enjoyment of music through education and performance.
